Food Meat Loaf Recipe

A meatloaf usually brings back the pleasant childhood memories of family meals and quick bites in the school cafeteria. For quite a long time now in America, meatloaf has been considered as a standard main dish. Not only for the Americans, but for many people across the globe, meatloaf is an ultimate comfort food.

 

The ingredients for a good delicious and tasty meatloaf are as follows:

Ingredients –

  • 1 cup of finely chopped onion

  • 1 celery rib, chopped fine

  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 carrot, chopped fine

  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped scallion (can substitute onion)

  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 tsp salt (use 1 1/2 teaspoon if using Italian sausage)

  • 1 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper

  • 2 tsp Worscestershire sauce

  • 2/3 cup ketchup

  • 1 1/2 pounds of ground chuck

  • 1 cup fresh bread crumbs

  • 2 large eggs, beaten slightly

  • 1/3 cup minced fresh parsley leaves

  • 1 egg

  • 3 tablespoons of milk

  • 3/4 pound of spicy ground pork sausage (or use Italian sausage - 1 sweet, 1 hot)

 

A tastier version of meatloaf can be prepared using equal proportions of beef, pork, and ground veal.

          Preparing meatloaf is quite an easy process. All one needs to do is to combine all the above mentioned ingredients in a large clean dry bowl and mix them thoroughly. Then pour the mix into a lightly greased loaf tin and press lightly to spread it evenly. Now place it in the oven and bake at 350° for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. The best thing about meat loaf is that it can be baked / prepared either in the oven, microwave, electric roaster, or even in a crock pot.
